World Mental Health Day: Your Brain Needs a Day Off

Image

An older bearded man and his golden retriever relax on a wooden dock beside a mountain lake at sunset, with a Mental Health Day sign and the message “Clearer Mind, Happier You… Take a Break.”
Today’s meeting: me, the dog, and the sunset.
Agenda: reloading. 🌅🐾🧠

World Mental Health Day falls on October 10. The 2026 campaign theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” calls for people with lived experience of mental health conditions to help shape the support and decisions that affect them. Our AL reminder is a little simpler: your brain is not an office computer that must stay online 24/7.

Step away from the notifications, take a breath, and let your mind reload. A break won’t solve everything, but rest is a pretty good place to start. 🌲🧠

World Animal Day: See the World Through Their Eyes

Image

World Animal Day four-panel image featuring a dog, cat, bird and sloth with the message “See the World Through Their Eyes”
Dog sees play.
Cat sees service.
Bird sees the bigger picture.
Sloth sees no reason to hurry.
Happy World Animal Day! 🐾😎

World Animal Day is a little reminder that animals see the world differently.
Dogs look for fun, cats expect room service, birds keep an eye on everything, and sloths have already decided there’s no reason to hurry.
Honestly, they may have this whole life thing figured out. 🐾😴
